A few days after the Golden State Warriors suffered a historical defeat in the 2016 NBA Finals after holding a 3-1 lead, rumors started spreading concerning a possible return of veteran sharp shooter, Ray Allen. He even mentioned that he had approached the former 2015 NBA Champions as a possible destination for his return.

Ray Allen, who never officially retired, hasn't played since the 2014 season either.

After the first spark of speculation regarding which teams would be good fits for Ray, things have calmed down lately on the Allen front. He definitely has a lot to offer with his experience, deadly clutch shooting, and mentoring abilities, so if he is to make a return, he should be able to find a team as long as his economical expectations are not too high.

Another besides Golden State that was included in the speculations for Ray Allen's comeback was the Boston Celtics, a franchise Ray played with for five seasons and won his first (of two) NBA titles with.

A lot of Celtic fans would love to have him on the roster. He would have be a positive force in the locker room, given it's packed with many young, developing players.

Scott Souza had a discussion concerning this matter with Celtics owner Steve Pagliuca and his response seems to put an end to speculation that Ray could end up in Boston:

The question whether or not Ray Allen indeed makes an NBA comeback is yet to be answered. But as things stand now, if he does, it won't be in the white and green Celtics uniform.

This is noteworthy considering that Allen recently met with the Milwaukee Bucks.
