Why The Reds Will Cover The Spread/Win

Hunter Greene does a few things really well. One of the best things he does is limit the hits. He has allowed opponents to hit just .209 off him this season, which is very good. Greene needs to continue limiting the hits in this game. He allowed six hits and six runs in his first game against the Brewers, and that will not cut it. As long as Greene can go back to being very good at making sure the other team does not catch barrels, the Reds will have a chance to win this game.

Freddy Peralta has been struggling as of late. He has a 6.48 ERA in the month of June, and walked five batters in his last start. The Reds have to be patient at the plate, and cause Peralta to throw a lot of pitches. They have been hot at the plate this month, as well. In 11 games, they are batting .273 with 31 extra base hits, and a .779 OPS. If Cincinnati can stay hot at the plate, they will win this game.

Why The Brewers Will Cover The Spread/Win

As mentioned, the Brewers were able to get to Hunter Greene a little bit in the first matchup. They recorded six hits, and seven total runs off him. Milwaukee did strike out nine times, but that did not matter in that game. The Brewers should be able to get to him once again in this game if they can stay on his fastball. As long as the Brewers have the same type of game as the first matchup, they will win this game.

Milwaukee has been the best team in the NL Central all season. They hold a 6.5 game lead in the NL Central at the moment, as well. Along with that, the Brewers are 20-11 at home, and they have already beaten the Reds in two of three games this season. The Brewers need to continue playing as they have been, and they should be able to win this one if they play well.

Final Reds-Brewers Prediction & Pick

This is a very good pitching matchup. Yes, Greene has a tendency to walk people, and Peralta is struggling at the moment. However, if both pitchers are on their A game, this could easily end in a 1-0 contest with both of them going deep in the game. For this one, though, I am expecting Peralta to get back on track. I do not think he will struggle for much longer, and the Brewers are very good at home. I will take the Brewers to win this game straight up.
