The Washington Redskins appear to be getting Derrius Guice back in their offense ahead of their matchup against the New York Jets on Sunday. While he will undoubtedly lose touches, Adrian Peterson is prepared to share the workload with Guice.

Guice, the team's second-year running back, has been out since Week 1 after sustaining an injury to his knee. After being a healthy scratch in Week 1, Peterson was thrust into the starting job once again due to an injury to Guice.

Last year, Guice suffered a devastating injury in Washington's preseason opener. Following the news that he would miss the entire 2018 season, the Redskins went out and signed Peterson to become their starter.

As a result, Peterson had his first 1,000-yard season since 2015 and looked rejuvenated. Now, after starting in the past eight weeks, the veteran rusher will have to learn to adjust to Guice also getting touches in the offense.

When Peterson was made a healthy scratch in Week 1, Jay Gruden was the team's head coach. At the same time, Guice was among the players who were upset about the team's decision to sit the future Hall of Fame running back.

Fast forward to this moment and Bill Callahan is now the interim coach for the Redskins. Since he's been the coach, the offense has made a concerted effort to run the ball.

Along with the running back situation, the Redskins have also announced that Dwayne Haskins will be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season. With him making his second-career start, Washington will rely on the likes of Guice and Peterson to alleviate some of the pressure off of him.
