Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson’s reunion Monday with his old team, the New Orleans Saints, didn’t play out the way he wanted. Aside from the Redskins getting smashed, 43-19, Peterson also revealed after the game that he suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Peterson would get an MRI on Tuesday to determine if Peterson's shoulder injury is more serious. However, the veteran running back sounded confident that the injury won’t see him miss time.

“It's not going to keep me out,” Peterson said per John Keim of ESPN. “I came back into the game. It was just a situation where it was sore. I just thank God it wasn't worse.”

Peterson said he injured his shoulder after a play late in the first half and knew something was “seriously wrong.”

“I just popped it back in, braced it up at halftime and got back in there,” Peterson said.

Peterson ended up playing just two snaps in the second half and did not record a carry. He finished Monday's game with four carries for six yards and two catches for 36 more.

Peterson, who was battling an ankle injury heading into the Saints game, now faces a race to get ready for the Redskins’ next game at home against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The Redskins already have three running backs — Derrius Guice, Rob Kelley, and Byron Marshall — on IR. So if Peterson can’t go, they will be left with Chris Thompson and Kapri Bibbs as their remaining options to step in at running back.
