The Washington Redskins don't get talked about a lot for their defense but it's a good squad and D.J. Swearinger thinks adding Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is going to be “very scary.” It might be only a rental because Clinton-Dix is looking for a big contract this offseason but there is no question trading for the former Green Bay Packers is going to improve an already good defense.

The Redskins are giving up only 322.4 yards and 19.1 points per game, both which are top five in the NFL. The rush defense is the most impressive giving up only 80.1 points per game, and now with Clinton-Dix the pass defense should be even better.

“I was lit!” Swearinger said via The Washington Post. “It’s going to be something that they ain’t seen before. I don’t think they’re ready for it. I feel like they’re really getting this defense right. They’re banking on getting the defense right, and I got some extra help for sure on the back end. A veteran guy. A Pro Bowl guy. … When he gets comfortable, it’s going to be very scary. I don’t know where they’re going to throw it. … With that D-line, we’re going to be scary.”

Clinton-Dix doesn't have much time to learn the new system but he is planning to suit up on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

“I came here to play; I came here to work,” Clinton-Dix said. “Even if that’s special teams or just helping contribute to this team any way I can. The No. 20 is going to be suited up this weekend, and you can bet that.”

The Redskins currently sit with a 5-2 record and are in first place of the NFC East.
