Leading up to the 2018 NFL Draft, former LSU running back Derrius Guice was widely viewed as being potentially the second-best player at his position in this year's class behind Penn State's Saquon Barkley. During this process, he had received many comparisons to Oakland Raiders former Pro Bowler Marshawn Lynch due to his running style.

With these comparisons in mind, Guice has voiced that he wants to fulfill that potential and then some to be considered a more improved version of Lynch on the field, according to John Keim of ESPN.

That doesn't mean he'll become Beast Mode, Jr. Rather, Guice prefers this:

“2.0,” Guice said.

The Washington Redskins would be happy if they found another Lynch, and Guice wasn't alone in seeing the similarities. People talking about it led to a relationship between Guice and Lynch, one that continues.

“I guess he's seen in reports a lot of comparisons between me and him, and in a lot of reports, people ask me who I model my game after and I always bring him up,” Guice said. “He actually got his Beast Mode company to reach out to me and send me some of his gear and that's kind of how it kicked off. He sent me some Beast Mode gear and we've just been kicking it off ever since.”

Guice will likely have the opportunity to immediately compete for the starting job with the Washington Redskins alongside Samaje Perine this offseason. He has shown the explosive and bruising running ability that should help him immediately make an impact at the next level.

His limited impact in the passing game may play against him, but if he can show that he can make a huge impact in the running game he could quickly etch out a significant role. He is coming off a highly productive 2017 season where he led the SEC in rushing with 1,387 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns for running backs in the conference despite only starting in six of the 12 games that he played.

This comparison coupled with falling to the 59th overall pick looks to have provided the 20-year-old with more than enough motivation to prove it on the field this upcoming season.
