Doug Williams continues to further his legacy as one of the best players to play for the Washington Redskins. Even as the Redskins Senior Vice President of Player Personnel, Williams keeps receiving honors for his playing days—even at his alma mater.

Soon, Grambling State University—the college he attended—is going to name a street after Williams. After the announcement, Williams received a shoutout from Los Angeles Lakers legend, Magic Johnson. Johnson congratulated Williams in a video on Twitter.

“Doug, I just want to congratulate you man, a street named after you,” Johnson said (H/T NBC Sports Washington). “You've meant so much to Grambling, but also the state of Louisiana; the NFL; fans like myself, who admire you, respect you, love you. You're a Super Bowl Champion; a Super Bowl MVP, and now, a street named after you.”

In 1978, Williams became the first African-American quarterback to be drafted in the first round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A few years later, Williams arrived in Washington to play under center for the Redskins.

With the Redskins, Williams helped lead the franchise to its second Super Bowl victory in its team's history in 1987. At the time, Williams broke multiple Super Bowl records for passing touchdowns (four), and passing yards (340).

After his playing career ended, Williams joined the Buccaneers front office and would continue coaching or being in the front office. Since 2014, Williams has had an executive job with the Redskins and is hoping to help turn the franchise around.

Undoubtedly, Williams has done a lot for the game of football and is being rewarded for his endeavors.
