The Washington Football Team, among other teams, are already trimming their rosters ahead of the deadline for the squad's final 53-man roster. A notable cut was safety Sean Davis who signed a contract back in March that included a $2 million signing bonus.

Things took a turn as head coach Ron Rivera and his men were apparently not impressed with the veteran's performance in training camp. The 26-year old player spent the last four years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers where he contributed a total of 247 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 20 pass deflections.

On the other hand, seventh-round rookie safety Kamren Curl made the most out of the opportunities and could be potentially slotted in the starting position come Week 1. Joining Davis on his departure are quarterback Steven Montez, receiver Trey Quinn, linebacker Donald Payne, defensive end Jordan Brailford, cornerback Ryan Lewis, tackle Timon Parris, and tackle David Steinmetz.

Off the field, the Washington Football Team are gradually taking steps in the right direction after going through one of the craziest offseasons to date. The franchise was on the receiving end of the public's clamor for the team to take on a new identity.

Team owner Dan Snyder along with Rivera immediately went to work and searched for a replacement for the Redskins moniker. They eased in the generic Washington Football Team identity for the time being instead. The team also publicly committed to championing social awareness amidst the Black Lives Matter movement in American society moving forward.

Hopefully, the team will be able to make wise decisions from here on and select the 53 best players who can contribute the most to their rebuilding efforts in the upcoming season. Sean Davis, obviously, is not a part of the plan moving forward. It will be interesting to see just where he lands next.
