Terrell Pryor parlayed his successful conversion from quarterback to wide receiver in the NFL to a one-year deal to play for the Washington Redskins this season. We’re now at the halfway mark of the 2017-18 campaign, however, and Pryor hasn’t even reached half of his total catches and receiving yards last season when he was still part of the Cleveland Browns.

Pryor was a 1,000-yard man for the Browns last season, collecting 1,007 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions on 77 total catches. Although Cleveland let him walk away to free agency, Pryor was a mildly sought-after talent in the market thanks to his surprising success at the position.

When Washington gave him $8 million to play for the Redskins, Pryor expected to have an even bigger role downfield.

That’s not what’s happening. Through seven games this year, Pryor only has 223 receiving yards and a touchdown on just 18 receptions. Worse, sophomore wideout Josh Doctson is starting to gain on his share of snaps.  In fact, Doctson had been in 101 offensive snaps over the past two games while Pryor was only involved in 49.

According to John Keim of ESPN, Pryor is approaching this development with a glass-half-full mindset, saying that the lack of action is helping him recover faster from a bruised right foot. Furthermore, Pryor states that there’s still plenty of time for him to turn his season around.

“It's still a long season,” Pryor said. “If you get opportunities it can still be special and we can still make plays. … You guys know how it is, we don't get a lot of targets around here. But when we do we have to take advantage of them and maybe they'll come more. That's all we can do, take advantage of that.”

Pryor will have to act fast, as there are only nine games remaining on the Redskins’ regular season schedule including this Sunday's tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. If he continues his current trend, he’ll likely find it harder to look for a job once he hits free agency again.
