The New Orleans Pelicans are finalizing a training camp deal with free agent forward Perry Jones, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Jones was previously reported as part of a six-player workout group for the Minnesota Timberwolves last week.

This training camp deal will allow him to battle for a spot in the 15-man roster, making his contract only partially guaranteed, so long as he makes the cut in October.

Coming into his fourth season in the league, Jones has had very limited playing experience — garnering only 21 starts through his young NBA career.

Jones has proven a very raw talent at 6-foot-11 and 235 pounds, boasting plenty of athleticism, but not very many fundamentals to carve out a niche in a roster.

During his time with the Iowa Energy of the G League last season, he posted a mere 6.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, limited to a 21.1 minutes-per-game stint.

Jones has NBA averages of 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds through his three-year stint in the league.
