The Sacramento Kings signed Rajon Rondo to a one-year deal worth $9.5 million this past summer. Considering how poorly he played for the Dallas Mavericks the year prior, there wasn't too much thought put into the transaction. Many actually thought that it was too risky of a signing for the Kings. As we know, it turned out to be a very successful move by the organization.

Rondo excelled at the point guard position all year long for the Kings. He led the league in assists and was a terrific floor general for Sacramento. Even with that being said, the Kings don't seem too willing to bring back Rondo.

From Zach Lowe:

“The latest scuttlebutt is that the Kings are prepared to cut bait with Rajon Rondo if the bidding for him gets beyond a certain threshold that is lower than we might imagine, given the Kings' recent transaction history.”

Rondo is an unrestricted free agent this summer meaning that every team, including the Kings, will have an equal opportunity to sign Rondo. If Lowe is correct, there isn't a high likelihood that Rondo will be wearing a Kings uniform next season.

With how well Rondo played last year, the odds are that some team will offer a hefty sum to Rondo this summer making it unlikely that Rondo returns to Sacramento.
