New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has officially become the first player in NFL history to reach 80,000 passing yards.

Coming into Friday's Christmas Day game against the Minnesota Vikings, Brees only needed 154 yards to reach the milestone. He accomplished it in the third quarter with a nine-yard pass to running back Latavius Murray. The 41-year-old quarterback went on to finish the game completing 19-of-26 passes for 311 yards and two interceptions.

Nevertheless, this isn't the only major milestone Drew Brees has broken in his 20-year career. In 2018, the Saints' franchise quarterback became the league's all-time leading passer when he surpassed Peyton Manning (71,940 passing yards). As of right now, Brees only needs five more passing touchdowns to surpass Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady for the most in NFL history.

Speaking of Brady, he could potentially become the next quarterback to surpass 80,000 passing yards. Brady currently has 78,457 passing yards, and if he doesn't retire this season, he'll most likely surpass the 80K mark next season.

Nevertheless, surpassing the landmark is such an amazing accomplishment for Brees. Only four players in NFL history have over 70,000 passing yards: Brees, Brady, Manning and Brett Favre.

As for the Saints, they took care of business on Friday after beating the Vikings 52-33. They were able to win the NFC South for the fourth consecutive season. Furthermore, under Brees and head coach Sean Payton, they have won seven division titles in 15 seasons.

The Saints will be playing their final regular season game next Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
