During last weekend's NFC championship with the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints, there was a miscall. A clear pass interference flag should've been thrown.

It would've changed the outcome of the game. Since the NFL doesn't have missed calls under review, a huge opportunity for the Saints was missed. This has caused an outcry from Saints fans and NFL fans alike.

The outcry has even made it all the way to state government. Gov. John Bel Edwards sent a letter Tuesday to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to express the “deep disappointment” of the people of Louisiana and Saints fans.

John Bel Edwards told the Associated Press:

“The very least that any fan of the Saints, or any other team, should be able to expect from any game is that the result will be decided by the players on the field. By missing the obvious, blatant and intentional penalty at the end of the game, the referees in Sunday’s game undermined that expectation and unfortunately were allowed to determine the winner…The very integrity of the game will be called into question.”

It seems a bit odd for a government official to be weighing in on NFL rule changes. But it just speaks to the massive effect of that blown call on the entire city of New Orleans that even the governor felt the need to weigh in.
