With training camp just a week away, the New Orleans Saints are figuring out who will and who won't be available to practice. Unfortunately for Michael Thomas and Marcus Davenport, they won't be taking part in camp due to their respective injuries.

The Saints placed both players on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP). Saints analyst Nick Underhill tweeted the news Thursday afternoon.

This isn't a great sign for either player, with Week 1 of the 2022 NFL Season quickly approaching. However, Underhill noted that he doesn't expect the two to be on the PUP list for too long.

Thomas continues to battle an ankle injury from over a year ago. The wide receiver underwent ankle surgery in July of 2021. He didn't play a single game in the 2021-2022 season because of a setback with the injury. Fortunately, his PUP listing is likely just a precaution.

Meanwhile, Davenport suffered multiple injuries since joining the Saints in 2018. It all started when the defensive end injured his left pinky finger during his time at UTSA. Davenport had to have part of the finger amputated this offseason because of an infection. The infection formed because the plate, surgically inserted last year, broke inside of his finger.

Along with the partial amputation on his finger, Davenport underwent shoulder surgery this offseason. He suffered the right shoulder injury in Week 1, and it sidelined him for a large part of the 2021-2022 season.

Hopefully, both Thomas and Davenport can successfully continue and finish their rehabilitation before the start of preseason.
