New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is one of the best pass-catchers in football, and this past season, he was the best receiver in the league, period, on third downs.

According to Pro Football Focus, Thomas racked up the most third-down receptions in the NFL and caught 81.4 percent of the balls thrown to him during third-down situations.

Not only that, but 27 of his 35 catches on third downs resulted in first downs, more than any other wideout in the league.

On the season overall, Thomas hauled in a league-leading 125 receptions for 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State University, was originally selected by the Saints in the second round (47th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

His NFL career got off to a terrific start, as he played in 15 games during his rookie campaign and caught 92 passes for 1,137 yards and nine scores. Then, the following year, Thomas earned his first Pro Bowl appearance after snaring 104 balls for 1,245 yards while reaching the end zone five times.

New Orleans is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which it won 13 games, capturing the NFC South division title and finishing with the best record in the league.

The Saints, who had a first-round bye, then defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round of the playoffs before suffering a devastating and controversial loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game the following week.
