The New Orleans Saints may have escaped with a win over the defending champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it came with an unfortunate price. Star quarterback Jameis Winston suffered a scary knee injury early into the game, forcing him out for most of the Saints' big win. The injury looked bad when it happened, and as the results of tests show, it truly is bad for Winston.

Ian Rapoport has reported the results of the tests on Winston's knee: the Saints QB apparently has suffered not just one, but two major injuries to his knee.

“Jameis Winston with an apparent ACL injury, as well as potential damage to the MCL. A frustrating win for New Orleans.”

The eye test already showed the worst possible outcome for Winston, as he knee bended in an unnatural position while getting tackled by Devin White on a routine play. Now, the Saints' worst fears have come to life, as the quarterback seems to have damaged both his ACL and MCL on the play. Medical advancements in sports have made it that these injuries aren't career-threatening anymore… but it will still be a significant loss for the Saints.

As for Winston, well, his game against his former team couldn't have gone any worse. It wasn't going to be a revenge game for the Saints QB, as he himself stated:

“No, I don’t see it as revenge,” Winston said. “I see it as a division opponent that we need to beat, a good opponent coming up in our house in front of our fans, trying to beat us.

However, surely he would've wanted to get a statement win over his former teammates. The Saints did pull off the win, but they are now facing major questions heading into the thick of things. Best of luck to Winston and hope he has a speedy recovery.
