The New Orleans Saints have a key matchup in Week 3 versus their NFC South Division rival Atlanta Falcons. It seems wide receiver Ted Ginn has no intention of missing Sunday.

Ginn has been nursing a knee injury he suffered in Week 2 versus the Cleveland Browns. According to Joel A. Erickson of The Advocate, he fully expects to play in Atlanta.

It is encouraging to see that the injury is not too serious. Ginn logged in just over half the snaps on offense last week against Cleveland and wound up finishing with four receptions for 55 yards. There was some speculation regarding his status moving forward at the time, but fortunately, there was never any reported setbacks throughout the week.

Ginn plays an integral role on offense as the No. 2 option for quarterback Drew Brees. New Orleans already has a bona fide playmaker in wide receiver Michael Thomas, however, Ginn's absence would allow for defenses to key on him much more than they normally would. Not only is the veteran a solid complementary option to Thomas, but it appears he may be taking on an expanded role on special teams as well.

Ginn was among the notable players named as potential replacements for return man Tommylee Lewis. Before he became a legitimate wideout, he made his bones as a return man early in his career. The fact that the Saints are seriously considering using him is a promising sign about his health moving forward.
