New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will be without his usual blindside protector for a while. Left tackle Terron Armstead will likely be out 3-4 weeks due to a pectoral injury, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Armstead suffered the injury, which was initially described as a shoulder injury, in last week's blowout win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Jermon Bushrod replaced Armstead in the lineup and will likely do so again for their big matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Armstead is having a stellar season for the Saints. He’s played a significant part in protecting Drew Brees, who has been sacked nine times through 10 games this season. Pro Football Focus currently has Armstead as their top-rated offensive tackle in the entire league through 10 weeks.

Armstead has always had the talent to be one of the best left tackles in the league. But he's been unable to completely live up to his potential as he's missed significant chunks of time due to injury. He’s never played a full 16-game season in his six-year career and has missed 15 out of a possible 32 regular season games in the previous two years.

The Saints have been playing at such a high level of late as they’ve emerged as one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the league. But it will be interesting how they cope without a key member of their offensive line for the next few weeks.

After the Eagles on Sunday, the Saints next face the Atlanta Falcons on Thanksgiving and go on the road to face the Dallas Cowboys the following Thursday.
