Seattle Seahawks star linebacker Bobby Wagner is seeking a new contract, but that isn't stopping him from attending training camp.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Wagner is expected to show up for Seahawks training camp on Wednesday to set an example for his teammates as the leader of the team. However, Rapoport also notes that Wagner will be “cautious” and won't put himself “in harm's way” until a new deal finally gets done.

Wagner is entering the final year of his current deal and is set to make $10.5 million in 2019.

Seattle has been in contract talks with Wagner, and there have been reports that a deal is expected to get done before the start of the regular season, but obviously, the longer this drags on, the more concerning it becomes.

Wagner is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he racked up 138 tackles, a sack, an interception, a couple of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, a defensive touchdown and 11 passes defended en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was originally selected by the Seahawks in the second round (47th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He flashed his talent right off the bat, totaling 139 tackles, a pair of sacks and three picks during his rookie year. Wagner was a Pro Bowler by his third season and has made five straight Pro Bowls overall, including four First-Team All-Pro selections.

Seattle won 10 games and lost to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs this past season.
