D.K. Metcalf put together a stellar sophomore season with the Seattle Seahawks with his receiving ability, but it was his defensive ability that caught the attention of fans this season. While speaking to Matt Harmon of Yahoo Sports, Metcalf discussed his chase-down tackle of Budda Baker.

“After he caught the pick, the only thing on my mind was ‘I gotta go get him.'

“I know when I passed the last Cardinals defender … I just really turned on the gears and went and got him …

“I tell people all the time: it was just something I felt I had to do, it wasn't just a miraculous play, in my opinion, it was just me playing football.”

The play took place in Week 7 when the Seahawks traveled to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals on “Sunday Night Football.” During one of Seattle's offensive drives, they were able to get inside the five-yard line, giving them a prime opportunity to score a touchdown.

On first and goal, Wilson would loft an errant pass to Chris Carson, who was being covered by Baker. Baker would intercept the pass and it first appeared that he'd have an easy pick-six for the Cardinals.

However, Metcalf came blazing past everyone that was in pursuit to tackle Baker before he could reach the end zone. What makes the play even better was the fact that Arizona would have to settle for a field goal. Though, the Cardinals would win the game 37-34 in overtime.

When speaking about the play, Metcalf said that once Baker intercepted the pass, he knew he had to catch him. Even though he made a miraculous play to help the Seahawks, Metcalf finished with a season-low two receptions for 23 yards in that Week 7 showdown with the Cardinals.

Metcalf finished with 83 receptions, 1,303 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns in his second year with Seattle. But it was his ability to prevent what seemed like a surefire touchdown by Baker that was the highlight of his season.
