Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin is expected to miss “a couple weeks” with a partial MCL tear that he suffered in his team's 27-24 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 1.

“Let’s see what happens. We’ll wait and see. We don’t know yet. It could be a couple weeks. It could be a couple weeks, and we’ll find out. He’s as tough as you get. We’ll need to wait,” Carroll said per Brady Henderson of ESPN.

Baldwin is not expected to be available for next week's game against the Chicago Bears or their Week 3 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. Carroll's priority is giving Baldwin adequate recovery time. In response to his injury, the Seahawks have promoted wide receiver Keenan Reynolds from the practice squad to their 53-man roster.

Baldwin was only targeted once in the Seahawks' loss and did not record a reception in the game. Knee soreness kept Baldwin from seeing preseason action, but it was the knee opposite of the one recently affected by his MCL tear. Baldwin has been a fixture in the Seahawks' lineup since he joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2011.

Baldwin has recorded over 1,000 receiving yards in two seasons, falling just 9 yards short of this mark last season. In the 2015-16 season, Baldwin caught 78 passes for 1,069 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. The Seahawks will miss one of Russell Wilson's favorite targets, but he should return at some point during the season. Proceeding with caution will be key to preserving his services long-term.

Wilson completed 19 of 33 passes for 298 yards and 3 touchdowns in their losing effort. While they did start the season off on the wrong foot, they shouldn't be too worried. The team has developed a reputation for turning mid to late-season surges for formidable playoff runs.
