The carnage from Week 2 of the NFL season continues. Another important player has been knocked out for the season with an injury. The latest player to be sidelined until 2021 is Seattle Seahawks nickelback Marquise Blair, who was ruled out for the rest of this season on Monday. He suffered a knee injury against the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

This devastating blow to Seattle comes shortly after learning of Bruce Irvin's sprained knee, which will more than likely force him to miss some time as well. Head coach Pete Carroll has already stated on his Pete Carroll show on 710 ESPN Seattle that he may have to utilize Ugo Amadi as a backup nickel in the foreseeable future.

“It looks like Ugo’s going to have to take over there for a bit and we’ll count on him to do well,” stated Carroll in regards to Amadi.

Amadi did perform well however against the Patriots, including making eight tackles.

Blair was coming off a rookie campaign that saw him go for 32 combined tackles and 24 solo tackles. Masking his presence for the long haul will be daunting, but Carroll seemed impressed with what he saw from Amadi upon Blair's departure from the game.

“I thought he did a great job coming in. The expectations for the position are so high because Marquise has been playing so well and is just getting started,” he said. “Ugo does have the experience from last year. I thought he was really aggressive and really went after it. I was really fired up for him.”

Ugo will get his full shot at a starting position in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys, who will be carrying over a huge amount of momentum following their Week 2 victory against the Atlanta Falcons.
