Prior to the 2020 NFL season, a disgruntled safety in Jamal Adams found himself stuck with a struggling franchise in the New York Jets. Fortunately for him, Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks swooped right in and manufactured a trade to acquire his services. Through 12 games of the 2020 NFL season, it is safe to say that the trade has already paid dividends for both sides.

Pete Carroll only had good words to say for the former LSU standout who has given the team's defense a much-needed boost since his arrival back in late July.

“Oh shoot, ecstatic. Ecstatic about it,” Carroll said via Pro Football Talk. “He’s been everything we could have hoped for at this point and he’s going to keep getting better. He played a really good game yesterday. He didn’t get to pressure quite as much, they didn’t throw the ball quite as much. But he had another sack. He’s a fantastic player. I’m thrilled about the trade.”

Competing against other interested suitors in the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks felt the need to pull the trigger for Adams at the height of the offseason. They eventually dealt safety Bradley McDougald, first- and third-round picks in 2021, along with a first-round selection in 2022 in exchange for Adams and a 2022 fourth-round pick.

Though he was kept on the sidelines for a couple of games due to a groin injury, the two-time Pro Bowler still managed to make an impact for the Seahawks after generating 58 total tackles and 7.5 sacks in eight total games played.

The Seahawks are currently holding an 8-4 record to nab second place in the stacked NFC West division and are looking well on their way to lock in a spot in the postseason. Jamal Adams will aim to ball out on the gridiron as he is slated to face his former team in the Jets for their upcoming matchup come Week 14.
