Beyond the uncertainty surrounding Richard Sherman's future with the Seattle Seahawks, there has also been much dialogue in regards to his health heading into the offseason. He is just a few months removed from suffering a torn Achilles tendon that put in question when he would be able to return to the field.

This was only further put into the spotlight after he recently underwent additional minor surgery on his Achilles to help the healing process from the injury. According to Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network, Sherman has clarified exactly what that operation corrected while voicing that he expected to be back in June.

This additional surgery doesn't necessarily sound like a setback, but rather a fix for a nagging issue that he has been dealing with for the last few years. It should help allow him to recover more smoothly from the Achilles surgery while removing something that has been bothering him for quite some time.

However, there is still much mystery at this point regarding if he'll be able to keep playing at an elite level following this major injury. This is an ailment that can often change the career path of a player and could possibly lead to several other injuries arising if not handled properly.

Regardless of where Sherman is playing next season, he will have a chance to prove that he is still one of the league's top cornerbacks. In his career, he has earned four Pro Bowl selections, three First-Team All-Pro nods, and a Second-Team All-Pro selection. He is on track to play in the final year of his four-year, $56 million deal that will pay him $13.2 million in base salary and bonuses for the 2018 campaign.

The further Sherman gets into the recovery process from the surgically-repaired Achilles, the clearer it will become as to when he will exactly be ready to return to the field.  In the meantime, his future in Seattle will continue to remain a topic of discussion.
