The Seattle Seahawks don't seem to be in any rush to get a new deal done with Russell Wilson, but they might want to get moving.

According to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times, Wilson wants a new contract by the time the Seahawks begin offseason workouts on April 15.

Condotta adds that Seattle and Wilson have held contract negotiations over the last couple of days, but the Pro Bowl quarterback apparently wants to expedite the process in order to avoid any unnecessary drama throughout the remainder of the offseason and then the regular season.

Wilson has one year remaining on his current deal, and there was some chatter earlier this offseason that the signal-caller actually wanted to be traded to the New York Giants. However, those rumors were never really substantiated.

The 29-year-old is coming off of what was probably the best season of his career, as he threw for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 110.9 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Wilson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wisconsin and North Carolina State, was originally selected by the Seahawks in the third round (75th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He was immediately named Seattle's starting quarterback entering his rookie campaign and was very impressive, throwing for 3,118 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 picks, making a trip to the Pro Bowl as a result.

Since then, Wilson has gone on to earn five Pro Bowl selections, and during the 2013-14 campaign, he led Seattle to a Super Bowl title.
