It is currently up in the air as to whether Tom Brady will play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2023 season. From Buccaneers pass rusher Shaquil Barrett’s standpoint, he is going to view the upcoming 2022 campaign as if it will be the last time he will ever see Brady feature in the NFL.

“Yeah, I'm going to approach it that way for sure,” Barrett said at the Buccaneers' OTAs. “Hopefully we can send him out on the highest note possible.

“We've just got to start putting in the work in now. If it is his last ride, I'm going to make sure I do everything I can to send him out on the top of the mountain.”

Brady opted to “retire” after the Buccaneers’ playoff elimination at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams last season. However, this declaration from him lasted a mere 40 days, as the Buccaneers put an end to their search for his replacement after he decided to return for the 2022 season.

Brady has yet to provide any indication as to whether the upcoming season is set to be his last in the NFL. The 44-year-old quarterback has noted before that he would be open to playing in the league until the age of 45, although he would “consider” prolonging his career beyond that.

Whenever Brady decides to officially call it a career, he will join FOX Sports as its lead NFL analyst, as he signed off on a mega 10-year, $375 million deal with the sports programming division earlier this month.

For now, Brady sure enters the 2022 campaign with a chip on his shoulder following the Buccaneers’ notable exit in the NFC divisional round in the 2021 season.
