After finishing with the best record in the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers failed to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. They lost in Game 7 to the Atlanta Hawks despite holding home court advantage. Many pundits credited Philly's downfall to All-Star guard Ben Simmons. With yet another disappointing playoff run under Simmons' belt, the Sixers have reportedly started fielding trade offers for the Aussie.

The current trade market for Ben Simmons isn't as high as it used to be. His unwillingness and inability to shoot the basketball has become somewhat of a detriment to the Sixers. Other teams may be wary of Simmons' shooting deficiencies and would probably not give up the kind of return Philly expects from a trade involving the former no. 1 overall pick. Nonetheless, it's hard to deny his strengths of being a dynamic force in transition, an elite playmaker and passer, and a top tier defender.

Perhaps his elite qualities could be enough for other teams to consider taking a gamble on him. Simmons is still just 24 years old and could definitely still get better. What kind of deals should the Sixers expect for the 6-foot-10 guard? With the NBA Draft coming up, perhaps some teams may look to entice Philadelphia to take a lottery pick in exchange for an All-Star caliber player that is still somewhat of a semi-project.

As for Philly, perhaps they could acquire a solid piece along with a rookie prospect they'd like in a loaded NBA Draft class that could still keep them in contention. With that, let's take a look at the current draft field and see what the highest draft pick the Sixers could net in a potential trade for Simmons.

Before putting out some random number out there, it might be best to consider the situations of the lottery teams as of the moment. Would trading a high lottery pick that could potentially turn into a franchise-altering star in exchange for a 24-year old semi-project like Simmons be in their best interest? Probably not.

High lottery teams that would consider acquiring Simmons in exchange for their top pick will likely be the ones who see him as a piece they need to boost their chances to win an NBA championship. Perhaps another is a franchise that's been desperately trying to land a top star and they see Simmons as the man that could eventually help them break through.

With those factors in mind, it's hard to fathom any of the top 4 teams taking a swing at Simmons. According to most NBA Draft experts, the level of talent drops a tier after the top 4 prospects come off the board. Cade Cunningham is projected to go no. 1 to the Detroit Pistons. Rounding out the top 4 should be Evan Mobley, Jalen Suggs, and Jalen Green, though their draft orders still vary among majority of mock drafts. Still, those four are seen to be potential franchise changers and any team between the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, or Toronto Raptors would probably not pass up that chance.

The Orlando Magic (5th pick) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (6th pick) are still hell-bent on rebuilding, so those two are probably going to give this a pass. With that said, it seems like the highest NBA Draft pick that the Sixers could get in a Ben Simmons deal would be the no. 7 overall pick owned by the Golden State Warriors.

We're not even sure if the Warriors are high on this deal or believe Simmons is the guy that will help bring them back to contention, but Stephen A. Smith has been advocating on this to come to fruition. He believes the Dubs can unlock Simmons' full potential and would be deadly alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Nonetheless, nobody knows, including the Warriors even, what Golden State will do with their two lottery picks.  take on someone who can't and isn't willing to shoot. If the Dubs stand pat on their picks and stick with Andrew Wiggins, whom they would need to ship to to Philly to match salaries, perhaps the next best option for Philly is the no. 9 pick owned by the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento has an interesting case to make a deal for Simmons. The franchise has been in mediocrity in what seems like forever and could be desperate enough to take their chance on the 2016 no. 1 overall pick. Still, with De'Aaron Fox entrenched as their franchise star, there's going to be problems with fit alongside the 6-foot-10 point guard. Nonetheless, with the franchise in need of a major shake up, the Kings may just be willing to try anything at this point.
