Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons has been teammates with Joel Embiid for the entirety of his young NBA career. While Simmons already knew of Embiid's talent early on, the imposing big man seems to be on a whole different gear this season.

Simmons has identified what happened with Embiid this campaign, where he's in the early running for the MVP trophy. From Simmons' perspective, the center from Cameroon finally discovered how physically dominating he is on the floor. Simply put, there's no one who can guard him one on one. Coupled with the fact that Embiid has been a little more patient with his reads (via Derek Bodner of The Athletic).

“I think he realizes how dominant he is. He continues just to get better, especially with his passing and his patience. He lets the game come to him a little bit more now. He’s just been dominant. I haven’t seen anybody who can stop him. I don’t know if you have.”

So far, the seven-foot Embiid is averaging a career-best 29.1 points per game as well as 11.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 rebounds in 32.0 minutes. He has guided the Sixers to the best record in the Eastern Conference with an 18-7 slate, beating the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday for their latest win.

After a string of disappointing exits in the NBA Playoffs, the Sixers are on track to finally get over the hump with Embiid leading the charge. As long as Joel Embiid stays healthy and focused, they can accomplish practically anything.
