Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has finally earned his first All-Star selection. After making his bid last season for reasons that are now irrelevant, Embiid will be the lone Sixer in the starting lineup for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.

Rookie Ben Simmons helped The Process along the way, and according to Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia, the youngster could not be happier for Embiid's selection:

“I'm happy [Joe] made because I know last year he really wanted to so I'm happy for him,” Simmons said. “He really deserves it”

Although Embiid had initially burst onto the scene last year, he was largely snubbed due to the fact that he had only played 31 games up to that point — the total amount in which he has played in this season. However, there was no denying his status amongst the league's best players.

The former third overall pick in 2014 NBA Draft is currently averaging 23.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. Furthermore, he has carried this young Sixers team into the playoff picture throughout the entire season. That is not to say he hasn't had any help.

Simmons has been an integral part of Philadelphia's success, along with Embiid's uptick in numbers. The first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft put the year off to good use.

Simmons has become a consistent triple-double threat after registering 16.8 points, 7.3 assists, and 8.0 rebounds per game. That said, it could only be a matter of time before Philadelphia has two players consistently named as starters in the All-Star Game every year.
