Doc Rivers made history on Monday night as he led Joel Embiid and the Sixers to a 112-97 win over the Toronto Raptors to take a commanding 2-0 lead in this first-round series. Rivers is now just the fifth coach in the history of the NBA to reach the century mark in playoff wins.
Tuesday's victory marked Rivers' 100th win in the playoffs, which is a truly remarkable achievement by the Sixers shot-caller (h/t ESPN Stats & Info on Twitter):
Rivers joined some all-time greats on this very short list with Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich, and Larry Brown. Those are some of the greatest coaches in NBA history and it's an absolute honor for the Sixers coach to be included in this esteemed list.
Rivers will want to make it 102 playoff wins soon, though, as the Sixers look to close out the Raptors in their opening-round matchup. Now up 2-0, Philly has placed themselves in a tremendous opportunity to advance to the next round. Based on what we've seen from them thus far, it would not be a complete shock if the Sixers end up sweeping Toronto in the first round. You can be sure, however, that the Raptors won't be going down without a good fight.
