The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the Eastern Conference's best teams. Currently battling for playoff seeding near the top of the conference, every win counts right now for the Sixers.

Unfortunately, the team will be without young shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz for an extended period of time. On Tuesday afternoon, the Sixers released a medical update on Korkmaz via Twitter.

Furkan Korkmaz has missed the past four games after suffering from a meniscus tear in his right knee on February 12. The Sixers noted that on Tuesday, Korkmaz underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to repair the issue. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks and will likely miss more than a month when all is said and done.

For the season, the 21-year-old has averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in a part-time role. Korkmaz was drafted by the Sixers with the 26th pick overall of the 2016 draft. He is originally from Istanbul, Turkey.

Philadelphia also included an update on veteran center Boban Marjanovic. He suffered a knee injury late in Monday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. After undergoing multiple tests, the injury was determined to be a bone bruise and a mild knee sprain.

So far this season, the Sixers are 39-22 and hold the fourth seed in the East. However, they are only one game behind the third seed Indiana Pacers.
