If you asked James Harden how he imagined his maiden season with the 76ers would go right after he got traded to Philadelphia, a second-round exit likely wasn't on his mind.

But the Sixers were dealt an unceremonious exit in six games against the top-seeded Miami Heat, which leads to yet another offseason filled with question marks for the Philly side.

While it's likely not going to be as dramatic as the Ben Simmons saga, one pressing concern is what happens next with James Harden. The Beard has one year left on his deal, a player option for close to $47 million next season. Asked about his plans for the future, and if that meant staying in Philly, Harden gave a definitive response.

Via Derek Bodner:

Harden was asked if the plan was still to opt into the final year of his contract: “I'll be here.” Goes on to say he will do what it takes to make the team better.

The Sixers could also opt to sign him to an extension in the offseason. James Harden was asked about the possibility, and potentially taking less than the max deal he likely hopes to command.

Harden, on a possible extension and whether he would consider taking less: “Whatever it takes to help this team grow.”

Whether or not they want to do that is another issue entirely. After a rather disappointing performance in their Game 6 elimination game, committing to James Harden on the wrong side of 30 could be a risky proposition for a Philly team hoping to maximize the best years out of Joel Embiid.
