James Harden finally made his home debut for the Sixers on Wednesday and it was nothing short of spectacular. The former league MVP carried his scorching hot form into the Wells Fargo Center as he helped lead his team to a 123-108 win over the New York Knicks.

As expected, Harden was showered with love by an adoring home crowd. The Sixers fans in attendance made sure it was going to be a special night for the 32-year-old in his first home game in Philly. After the game, Harden spoke out about the reception he received and quite frankly, this might not sit too well with Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets:

“The love, the fans, it just felt like home,” Harden said. “Just the love, the support, man, looking around and just ‘We love you, James!' That right there, like, makes me go out there and play harder, and I just want to do whatever it takes to win.”

Harden is clearly feeling the love in Philly and the fact that he said that it “felt like home” just seems like a slight dig at the Nets, especially considering that he's played in just a single game in the City of Brotherly Love. I'm probably putting too much stock into this, but it's hard not to read into Harden's decision to force his way out of Brooklyn after barely a year with the team. Clearly, something just wasn't right with him over there and it isn't far-fetched to think that it had something (or a lot) to do with his ex-teammates.

It appears to be much different now that he's in Philadelphia, though, and the way the Sixers fans welcomed him in his first home game was just awesome:

Harden even shared a moment with Philly native and prominent Sixers fan Meek Mill right before Wednesday's contest:

Now that he's received such a warm welcome to his new team, Harden just wants to make sure that he is able to replay the fans' and his new team's trust in him:

“I just wanted to come out there and show my love back,” Harden said.

Harden is clearly loving life with the Sixers right now. He's saying all the right things, too, and he's quickly becoming Philly's sweetheart:

“I feel like you can put me anywhere in the room and I can fit in,” Harden said. “Here is no different. Just see what you have and try your best to fit in. Be the best James Harden I can be in every aspect.”

The fact that he's been absolutely balling is a major factor in this honeymoon stage. In his first three games as a Sixer, Harden has put up dizzying numbers, averaging 27.3 points on 59.0 percent shooting, 9.0 rebounds, 12.3 assists, and 1.7 steals, while also committing just 2.7 turnovers per game. He's also found his form from distance, draining 3.3 triples per contest on a 50.0-percent clip.

There's no denying that the sample size is extremely small and that at this point, it's difficult to make such sweeping declarations about Harden playing his best basketball in Philly, or that his partnership with Embiid is a match made in heaven. It would even be more dangerous to say that this Sixers team is going to be the top dog in the East or that they're bound to win a championship this season.

Not to rain on anyone's parade here but we must all keep in mind that it's just been three games.  Tempering our expectations is a must.
