The Philadelphia 76ers have worked all season to prove that they are a playoff-contending team, but no player has proved this more than Joel Embiid. The star center is already known in Philadelphia as the MVP, and fans are calling him “MVPIID.” He seems to embrace his new nickname and explained himself why he deserves this year's NBA MVP title.

ESPN writer Tim Bontemps tweeted Embiid's case Saturday afternoon.

The Sixers star is extremely confident, and he has every right to be. Embiid worked to get to his level of performance, battling injuries and getting in shape throughout the beginning of his NBA career. His self-assurance is warranted, and his case speaks for itself.

Embiid leads the NBA in scoring with an average of 29.6 points per game, and “doesn't plan on stopping” his dominant performance. He averages a double-double in nearly 30 and 11.2 rebounds each game, along with an average of 4.5 assists per game.

Embiid has two triple-doubles this season and 28 double-doubles. He has nine games with 40+ points, and 26 games with 30+ points, both being the most in the league.

The center is also a great leader for the Sixers, and isn't afraid to let teammates know when they are underperforming. He has helped both Tyrese Maxey and Matisse Thybulle through his leadership skills and tough love.

“MVPIID” will represent the Sixers in the 2022 NBA All-Star Game Sunday night in Cleveland.
