The Philadelphia 76ers now stare at a 0-2 hole in their Eastern Conference Semi-Finals series against the Miami Heat. With Joel Embiid's latest update, t looks like it doesn't get any easier anytime soon.

The Sixers center suffered a fracture in his orbital bone during Game 6 of their first-round series against the Toronto Raptors that was expected to keep him out for at least a few games.

Head coach Doc Rivers was asked about Joel Embiid potentially returning for Game 3 as the Sixers return home to Philadelphia. His update, which came directly from Embiid himself, didn't sound too encouraging.

Via ESPN's Tim Bontemps:

Doc Rivers says “I really don't know” if Joel Embiid will be ready for Game 3. Said he FaceTimed with him today. He believes he hasn't cleared any of the steps necessary to return.

The Sixers are in dire straits without their MVP candidate in the lineup. The Heat are just too deep and disciplined to overcome down arguably the most dominant player in the Eastern Conference.

Game 3 essentially decides the series for Philly. Should they lose that contest, it's curtains for their chances given that no team in NBA history has come back from a 0-3 deficit to win a series.
