After what we saw from him during the playoffs this season, it's hard to deny that Sixers star James Harden is now a shadow of his former self. As such, his future in Philadelphia has been a hot topic of late, particularly since the former league MVP is now entering the final year of his current deal.

If you ask Minnesota Timberwolves veteran Patrick Beverley, however, he has no doubt that Harden is still a top-tier player. As a matter of fact, Pat Bev believes that Harden absolutely deserves a max contract:

“No, I wouldn't offer him the max. I would offer him the super-duper-duper max,” Beverley said on a recent episode of ESPN's Get Up (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter). “Who can guard James Harden? a team, not one player.”

This isn't exactly the most popular opinion about Harden right now and you can see this by the way Beverley's co-host reacted to his statement on the Sixers star.

You have to note, however, that Beverley remains to be one of the top defenders in the NBA today. He's had his fair share of on-court duels with Harden (they were teammates with the Rockets for several years, too), so Beverley can be considered as a bit of an authority when talking about trying to defend the Sixers guard.

Is he actually right here? Should the Sixers offer Harden a max extension?
