NBA teams are getting ready to sport new looks in the 2020-21 NBA campaign, as several potential jersey designs have already been leaked online. The Philadelphia 76ers will also unveil some fresh threads next season, and it looks like their star player Ben Simmons could have a hand in the designing process.

Sixers team president Chris Heck made a bet to the 24-year-old Australian back in the 2017-18 season, vowing to let Simmons make the call on a new team jersey style in the offseason if he wins Rookie of the Year. The 6-foot-10 point forward went on to win the award (which gave birth to the never-ending Simmons ROTY meme), but Ben didn't get the opportunity in his second year.

Three years later, Heck revisited his forgotten promise, claiming that he still owes Simmons–especially after he made two All-Star teams since.

Ben Simmons, however, is now a bit skeptical after waiting for all these years, noting he'll believe it when the moment really comes.

But judging by the new era in The City of Brotherly Love, it looks like Ben Simmons will finally get his wish since the franchise will be looking to rebrand themselves next season. The Sixers hired Doc Rivers to replace Brett Brown as head coach, and they also agreed to terms with Daryl Morey to take over the front office.

Simmons' Twitter followers were quick to suggest designs for an edgier look next season. Considering retro is all the rage these days, most fans requested Simmons to bring back the iconic black Sixers jersey donned by the team during the Allen Iverson days in the early 2000s.

The Sixers stuck to their blue and red colors over the last few years, so bringing back those slick black threads seems like a nice change of phase for the squad. Plus, the 2010-21 season will mark the 20th anniversary of the last time Philly made it to the NBA Finals. Iverson and Co. donned the black unis during those days, and it may bring good luck to a Philly team looking to make it back to the promised land.
