The Super Smash Bros. eSports scene has just concluded another major invite tournament under the “Ultimate Summit IV” event, which just took place over the weekend in California, USA. While this competition featured a lot of heavy-hitting players, including Fatality (Furia), Tweek (TSM), Dabuz (Liquid), Light (Moist), and the current top Smash Ultimate player, MKLeo (T1), this summit tournament ended with a surprising victory.

Sparg0, a Super Smash Ultimate player from Tijuana, Mexico, managed to snag first place in the singles competition, beating out Light (Moist) with an impressive run using both Cloud and Pyra/Mythra as his main characters. While many spectators predicted Light to take the top spot due to his amazing display many top players, including a set against MKLeo, who he managed to defeat in a 3-0 set, Sparg0 proved to be more effective using Cloud against Light's Fox, using his power and reach to counter-attack Fox's speed and agility.

Many players were surprised that Sparg0 has finally managed to win a major competition after he came so close during other noteworthy competitions such as MainStage and Smash-Con. After achieving his victory, he received plenty of praise from veteran competitors including Mew2King, stating that he has the potential to become the next top player in the scene if he can keep up the effort.

Not only did Sparg0 win first place in the main singles competition, but also managed to win first place in a Crew Battle tournament, along with Tea (GRN), Chag (Cryme), and BassMage (LVD).

With Super Smash Bros Ultimate Summit IV having a prize pool of nearly $150,000 USD, this tournament concluded by having one of the biggest prize pools in the Smash Ultimate competitive scene to date. With all things considered, the results of Ultimate Summit IV may give off a glimpse into the Smash Ultimate competitive scene for the rest of the year.
