Solomon Hill’s massive slam waived off after Marcus Smart gets ref to buy his terrible flop

With 2:58 left in the third quarter of Monday’s game between the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans, forward Solomon Hill drove hard to the basket and made a vicious poster dunk.

The only problem was Marcus Smart was in the way, and his flop that was called by the referee had the slam waived off.

The replay clearly shows that Smart fell to the floor to sell the call. It will be very interesting how the NBA will see this play when they review it. Players who fake a foul are usually slapped with fines, and Smart’s flop certainly has fine written all over it.

Smart was quite pleased with himself for selling the flop:

The Pelicans had the last laugh of the night as they came out with the win, 106-105. Their victory improved their record to 2-9 for the season.
