The Los Angeles Sparks take on the Connecticut Sun. Our WNBA odds series has our Sparks Sun prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Sparks Sun.

The Connecticut Sun have lost just one game through nearly one-third of the 40-game WNBA season. It is doubtful that they will be able to go through the full season with a 36-4 record — the record they are on pace to produce — but they can certainly give it a run. Even if they fall short of 36-4, merely coming close to such a record will make it very likely that they will get a top-two playoff seed and home-court advantage through at least two playoff rounds if not all three. The Sun are giving themselves a good chance of being able to make a deep playoff run. If they can come even somewhat close to maintaining the level of consistency they have established in the first month of the WNBA season, they should win at least 32 games. Last year, 32 wins would have been good enough for a second-place tie. It probably would be good for at least second place this year as well, though we have multiple months of regular-season basketball left to play. At any rate, the Sun have been close to perfect. Even if they lose a few games or fall into a rut, they should still be a clear favorite to reach the WNBA semifinals and make a legitimate push for the championship.

The Los Angeles Sparks are reeling after a bad Sunday in Atlanta. They lost to the Dream, and what made the day worse was that the Sparks lost decisively, by double digits. Los Angeles played the Minnesota Lynx tough in a five-point loss last Friday. That was a very encouraging performance, but the Sparks regressed sharply versus Atlanta. Los Angeles needs to bounce back and regain the level of play it displayed last week, when it defeated Las Vegas and made Minnesota sweat.

Why The Sparks Could Cover The Spread

The Sparks are getting a lot of points. They lost at Minnesota — the team with the third-best record in the WNBA — by only five points last Friday. They led by double figures in the first half and by five points at halftime. They played a really good team closely for all 40 minutes on the road. They stumbled against the Atlanta Dream in their next game, but that display versus the Lynx — a very good team — shows that Los Angeles is capable of putting up a very good fight on the road and covering the spread as a double-digit underdog.

Why The Sun Could Cover The Spread

The Sun are one of the top two teams in the WNBA. The New York Liberty are playing better basketball right now, but the Sun just win. It's what they do. They have also covered the spread in their recent wins over Indiana, Chicago, and Dallas. This team isn't just winning; it is winning decisively. The Sparks are grossly inferior to the Sun, and Connecticut is playing at home. It lines up well for Connecticut.

Final Sparks-Sun Prediction & Pick

We are leaning to the Sun here, but the spread is large. Los Angeles got humiliated by Atlanta and might be motivated to play extra hard. Our official recommendation: Stay away from this game.

Final Sparks-Sun Prediction & Pick: Sun -12.5
