Tim Duncan is definitely a San Antonio Spurs lifer, and his service for the franchise might extend well beyond his already finished playing career.

According to Buck Harvey of the San Antonio Express News, there is a strong belief within the Spurs that the future Hall of Famer will eventully take on a new responsibility for the team.

“Most in the organization think Duncan will eventually join the franchise in a full-time capacity. They guess he won’t coach but will instead focus on personnel. Duncan has long been intrigued by the methods that Popovich and Buford use to identify talent.

Duncan has at times disagreed with their decisions only to be proven wrong. He’s curious why.”

Duncan owns a massive wealth of knowledge that he can impart to the present and future players in San Antonio, and knowing his lack of fondness for attention, expect the five-time NBA champion to take on a role that will allow him to be under-the-radar more often.

But given his status as an NBA great, it will be very hard for him to attain that preference.
