When it seemed that the San Antonio Spurs were out of playoff contention, they came barging in and connected a series of wins to put themselves in position for the play-in tournament. Now, Dejounte Murray wants everybody to know they are eyeing for the postseason.

The Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers were in contention for the bottom play-in spots before. But with Portland tanking and the Pelicans struggling to string wins together, the Spurs were able to climb back up and get within striking distance for the 10th seed.

San Antonio's latest 107-103 win against the Pelicans on Saturday helped further their cause, as they are now just a game behind New Orleans for the 10th seed. When asked about possibly making it to the play-in tournament for a chance at a playoff sport, Murray didn't hide their desire to get the job done.

“Absolutely, we want to get in,” Murray said, per Paul Garcia of Project Spurs.

Of course that is easier said than done. Dejounte Murray and the Spurs have a tough road ahead, as they play five playoff or play-in teams in their final eight games. They do have matches against the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Pelicans are in a similar situation, but that doesn't mean they have a room for error. Coach Gregg Popovich needs his team to be as perfect as possible if they want to claim the ninth or 1oth seed in the West.

One good thing, though, is that the Spurs have the momentum going in their favor. They seem to be peaking at just the right time to make a run for the postseason, which is exactly what they need while their competitors struggle for consistency.

It remains to be seen if they can actually make it and qualify for the playoffs. However, there is no doubt that the final few games of the 2021-22 season is brewing to be a highly intense and must-watch affair with the playoff chase and all the seeding implications that every win or lose have moving forward.

The Spurs have their work cut out for them, but they are surely not backing out.
