The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to preserve their unbeaten record against the Houston Texans in Week 3. However, they will finish the game without one of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s targets in wide receiver Diontae Johnson. Johnson has been ruled out of the game against the Texans due to a concussion, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Johnson suffered the concussion after being tackled during a Steelers drive in he second quarter. The wideout was taken to the Pittsburgh locker room for further evaluation and did not return to the field The drive ended in a 10-yard touchdown by tight end Eric Ebron, which cut the Houston lead to 14-10. 

Before the injury, the 24-year old Johnson has not had any receptions in the game, but had one carry and nine rushing yards for Pittsburgh. Replacing Johnson on the field were wide receivers Chase Claypool and James Washington. The 21-year old Claypool is a rookie who was selected by Pittsburgh in the second round with the 49th overall. 

Johnson, who was selected by the Steelers in the third round with the 66th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, is coming off a strong showing in their Week 2 win over the Denver Broncos, where he led the team in receptions with eight and receiving yards with 92. In their season opening win against the New York Giants, he had six receptions and 57 receiving yards. In his rookie season, Johnson was named to the All-Pro Second Team as a punt return specialist. He finished the season with 59 receptions for 680 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.
