The Pittsburgh Steelers have some decisions to make with what to do about their backup quarterback spots, and it turns out Mike Tomlin might decide to keep all four on the active roster. When Tomlin was asked about what he would do about the quarterback situation on Tuesday he wouldn't rule keeping all four, noting it has been done before in the league.

There is no question that Ben Roethlisberger is the starter, and Mason Rudolph was taken in the third round of this year's draft, so his job seems to be safe. The other two quarterbacks on the roster are veteran Landry Jones and second-year guy Josh Dobbs who they saw as a project last year.

If they weren't ready to give up on Josh Dobbs yet, it might make sense to keep four quarterbacks, but it still seems odd for a team trying to win a Super Bowl.

Who the playoff team decides to keep on their 53 man roster is very important, and it seems using four of the spots on the quarterbacks seems a bit excessive and would take away some of the depth from other parts of the roster. It's also clear that Rudolph is the backup quarterback of the future because of the draft pick they used on him which makes it even harder to imagine keeping all four guys around.

The Steelers fourth preseason game is going to be a significant addition for the three quarterbacks not named Roethlisberger and could go a long way in deciding who makes the team.
