Whether the Pittsburgh Steelers make the playoffs or not this season, what's certain is that Mike Tomlin has just pulled off no one in the NFL had done before him after leading the team to a 26-14 home win against the Cleveland Browns Monday night.

Via Field Yates of ESPN:

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has now clinched his 15th straight season without a losing record. That's the most consecutive seasons to begin a career by any head coach in NFL history. In a league of parity and constant coaching turnover, Tomlin's consistency is incredible.

That is an amazing feat, to say the least. Apart from the loyalty from both Tomlin's side and the Steelers' management to each other, the fact that Tomlin had never dipped below .500 in any season is definitely noteworthy.

However, next season presents a big challenge for Tomlin in trying to sustain his streak. It is expected that Ben Roethlisberger is going to retire at the end of the season, and in that case, the 2022 season will be Tomlin's first without Big Ben. The Steelers currently have Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins on the depth chart behind Roethlisberger but neither comes across as a quarterback the Steelers can build around.

Nevertheless, the immediate goal for Tomlin is to steer the Steelers to the playoffs, though, it's no longer entirely in their control. They need to win in Week 18 against the Baltimore Ravens on the road, hope for the Indianapolis Colts to lose, and for either the Los Angeles Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders to also lose in the final week of the regular season.
