Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier hasn't been able to play in an NFL game since the spinal cord injury that almost left him paralyzed. He has stayed around the team and has been very active at OTA's even playing a little quarterback.

Although he still has a long way to see an NFL game again, this is a good step to see him active around the team again. One guy he has been spending a lot of time is first-round pick Devin Bush as he tries to take over a role that Shazier once filled.

Bush talked recently with 105.9 the X about the relationship and how Shazier is like a big brother to him.

“He’s just a big brother for me,” Bush said. “He’s there whenever I need him. We text, we talk, we talk about life, we talk about football. He’s like, ‘Anytime you need anything, anytime you need to talk about anything, I’m willing to help and I’m here.’ ”

Even though Shazier can't be on the field with the Steelers in a competitive fashion, this is still a guy that can have a significant impact on the team. Before being injured Shazier was well on his way to being one of the best linebackers in the league, and he can still teach Bush and some of the other linebackers tips on playing the position in the league.

As we get closer to the season I would expect the more we will see Shazier around the team and at some point maybe he can transition to a coaching role.
