It has been just over a week since Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a season-ending neck injury that required spinal surgery.

In the time since then, Shazier has been in the recovery process from the injury. However, it did not stop him from making a stunning and shocking appearance at Sunday's game between the Steelers and New England Patriots at Heinz Field — to which he received a thunderous standing ovation from the crowd.

It had been announced by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on last Thursday night that Shazier was now undergoing physical rehab from spinal stabilization surgery. There had initially been concerns about the 25-year-old possibly being unable to walk again given the nature of his injury.

That said, it's quite an encouraging sign to see that Ryan Shazier was well enough to attend the game on Sunday night. It was reportedly his decision to go to Heinz Field to watch the contest in person not too far removed from spinal surgery.

There haven't been many details to emerge about the exact extent of his injury and what will rest ahead in terms of his recovery from it. In the meantime, it's clear that Shazier is continuing to progress in his rehab in the right direction.
