The Pittsburgh Steelers might be in the market for a quarterback at some point during the 2021 NFL draft.

Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said Monday the team is considering a myriad of options ahead of Thursday's draft, including bolstering the quarterback position:

“Again, wide open to all of it,” Colbert said, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “If you look at our current depth, obviously we have four NFL veteran quarterbacks on our roster, which I feel great about. We also have three of those four that are in the last year of their so-called deals, when you look at it realistically. So it’s an unusual group in that we do have four. Can you add a young one? Absolutely. We always have to be on the look for that next guy and try to predict the value of taking that player at that position because most likely a young quarterback won’t play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021.”

Colbert ultimately decided to bring back veteran signal-caller Ben Roethlisberger to be the team's starter in 2021. But he wouldn't seem to have many years left beyond the upcoming season, and the other options are a bit uninspiring.

None of the four quarterbacks on the Steelers roster–the other three being Mason Rudolph, Josh Dobbs, and Dwayne Haskins–are signed through 2021. There is no guarantee Colbert feels comfortable handing the reins to any of the younger guys when Roethlisberger decides to hang it up.

Taking a quarterback with the No. 24 overall pick might be a reach. But it might not be out of the question for the Steelers to address the position with the No. 55 pick in the second round.
