They say it is best to have a short-term memory in sports. Play the game long enough and one is bound to make mistakes every now and again, especially at the professional level.

However, there are some instances that just seem to stand out more than others. That has certainly been the case for Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James after a controversial call overturned what could have been a game-winning touchdown.

Instead of letting things slide, James is just left with a bitter memory. One week removed from the supposed non-catch, and he still cannot get it out of his mind,.

By way of ESPN's Jeremy Fowler:

“It sucks. A lot of [friends and family] said to keep your head up — I don't need that,” Jesse James said. “It's part of football. You can learn from it. Can't leave the game in the official's hands. Make the play more secure than it was.”

As many know, Steelers veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went on to throw an interception to cap the most entertaining game of the 2017 NFL season thus far. Meanwhile, James is left with the hindsight of what he could have done better.

Since then, even Roethlisberger has been adamant about moving forward after his blunder on the following play. Perhaps it is best for James to take a page out of the two-time champ's book.
