2018 No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton recently spoke about his 25-game PED suspension.

In a sit-down interview with Tom Chambers for FOX Sports Arizona, the Phoenix Suns center expressed his disappointment and embarrassment for what happened:

“I was shocked at first, and it was just this moment to where they, I think they were waiting for me to hear what I had to say. I was just really shocked and embarrassed. But most of all I know I disappointed everybody that's in my circle.”

Ayton had a promising season debut with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks while going 9-of-14 from the field. Unfortunately, the very next day, the NBA handed down the hefty 25-game suspension on the 21-year-old big man for violation of the league's anti-drug policy.

The suspension finished up on Monday night with Phoenix's 111-110 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers. Ayton will officially return to action when the Suns visits Los Angeles to face the Clippers.

During his suspension, Ayton kept himself busy by working on his game with assistant coach Mark Bryant. The former Arizona standout focused on improving his post game and also his 3-point shooting.

The Suns have been one of the surprise teams in the NBA. They currently have an 11-15 record and are ninth in the Western Conference standings. Ayton's return should provide them a huge boost, especially on the interior.

Last season, the 2018 first overall pick had a very efficient rookie campaign, averaging 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 58.5 percent from the field. Look for Deandre Ayton to pick up right where he left off.
